Toronto Food Events: Gluten Free Garage, Fried Chicken Battle Royale, Chinatown Bar Snacks, Taste Of Iceland

THIS WEEK



  • Gluten Free Garage pops up at Artscape Wychwood Barns (601 Christie St.) on Sunday, November 9 from 10am to 4pm. Tickets are $10 (kids under 12 go free) for the admission to the marketplace, featuring over 60 vendors, guest speakers, food trucks, and beer and cider tastings.

  • The next weekly edition of 86'd Monday at The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen St. West) is a Fried Chicken Battle Royale taking place November 10 from 8pm. Guests will judge the competitive cook-off featuring fried poultry from competitors; Chantecler, The Dock Ellis, Ruby Watchco, Sanagan's, The County General and Small Town Food Co.

  • L.U.S.T, Luke's Underground Supper Table presents Chinatown Bar Snacks on Wednesday, November 12 at 7pm. Tickets are $40, and will feature four dishes including crispy cassava, happy pancakes and pork skewers. The secret location will be revealed with ticket purchase.

  • A Taste of Iceland featuring a special $55 four-course dinner from guest chef Viktor Örn Andrésson and chefs Michael Wilson and Anthony Walsh takes place from November 13 to 16 at Luma (350 King St. West). The menu will showcase authentic Icelandic dishes featuring exotic ingredients like Icelandic cod, langoustine and viking skyr.


UPCOMING



  • The Gourmet Food & Wine Expo celebrates its 20th anniversary from Thursday, November 20 to Sunday November 23 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The four-day event will feature tutored tastings, a Food Network chef stage, a spiritology pavilion and, of course, plenty of opportunities to eat and drink.

  • Reserve a spot now for Jamie Kennedy's Local Food Movement Dinner on Monday, November 24. A sake reception kicks off with a tour of the Ontario Spring Water Sake Co. distillery (51 Gristmill Lane) at 6:30pm, followed by a four-course dinner at Gilead Wine Bar (4 Gilead Place) at 7:30pm. The cost for the evening is $120 including all food and sake.
